So I'm wondering what would be an easy way to determine the bottleneck, having only one computer with a certain configuration available? bystanderFeb 28, 2015, 4:33 AM Math Geek said: generally, when folks speak of "bottleneck" it is a negative thing that somehow hurts the system overall. Genius needed. That advantage diminishes even further with three- and four-GPU configurations. http://apksoftware.com/graphics-card/need-help-figuring-out-what-part-is-faulty-in-system.html
it hit over 100 fps in bf4 on 1080p ultra on a 970. adding a better gpu would actually cause a drop in fps and not staying the same as you have shown happens in a cpu bound game. Whole you're at it, try to find some used ram and add it to your build. Reply to Multipack Try___hardNov 3, 2016, 11:02 AM Okay, so what's the best bet?
Check to see if your CPU usage seems to stay around 100% or much less. plus some people dont have money to spend just like that. In which case more RAM would have been a much better choice. You could use the preset settings – many games offer presets like “Low,” “Medium,” “High,” and “Ultra” – but you can generally tweak individual settings. this is why I don't use these rules of thumb very much anymore - they just don't really apply. Best Graphics Card bystanderFeb 28, 2015, 6:06 AM In his 2nd post, he said he'll mainly be playing Skyrim, which is why I brought up that game.Your definition is not a bottleneck at all,
thanks for the charts and making me think about my answer more. Does anyone have feedback? Your CPU can't handle any more than it's doing. but any single gpu will not see any issues.

Possible fixes: Use smaller textures Use smaller texture bit depths Compress textures Use mipmapping Reduced resolution means fewer pixels to process, revealing bottlenecks at both the framebuffer and fragment shader. per example 1GB of GDDR5 will run much smoother then 3GB of DDR3 video memory.. So, if the game slows down dramatically when you increase the resolution, your GPU is the likely bottleneck. Non-relativistic FTL is trivial. In games, a telltale sign of a bottleneck is that the video card achieves much lower benchmark scores and performance than what most people with the same setup experience. Some games may be “CPU bound”, which means that their performance is generally restricted by your CPU. What they mean: Smaller bit depth means fewer resources used per pixel, revealing bottlenecks at the framebuffer level. Reply Dann Albright November 17, 2015 at 8:52 pm I thought about including that in the article, but because there are so many third-party cards that incorporate the same technology, and Game Debate as you stated the fps is generally cpu bound.there are times though when too strong of a gpu would cause lower fps than a weaker gpu in the same system.
While bandwidth expectations will vary depending on a graphics card's price and performance tier, always remember this: GDDR5 memory provides twice the bandwidth of DDR3 at the same clock rate.
