Regrettably, the missing menus problem is a hardy perennial in Word, Missing menus hasn't been fixed for several versions now, and that's because nobody can discover quite how it happens. thanks all for the guidance, it took a little more tricks to make it work and I'll share them for the benifit of everyone...Note - I failed to find the files Ribbon Disappeared In Word If you run Windows at a high resolution, undock the menu bar and move it to the far right of the screen, and then change to a lower resolution in Windows, Expand “HKEY_CURRENT_USER”, then expand “Software”, then “Microsoft”, then “Office”, then “8.0”, “9.0” or “10.0”, depending on your version, then “Word”, and you'll see a folder called “Data”. I can type a document but then I cannot save it or do the nice things the menu and toobar allow me to do. But you'll still need to delete the registry key; upgrading won't be enough on its own. They may not actually stop your computer working, but they can certainly slow it down! Many Internet "helper" add-ins make some quite nasty changes to your computer, and often the only "helping" they do is 'helping themselves to every web address you click on" for spamming CAUSE The normal.dot file has been corrupted or changed in some way.
