Note about 32-bit systems: If you're running a 32-bit Windows or Linux system, the maximum amount of RAM that you'll be able to use is 4 GB. There are probably some Core 2 / Phenom motherboards out there limited to 8GB, but if you're using a nearly ten-year-old CPU and motherboard combination, RAM upgrades probably aren't your highest In some cases, the PC refuses to operate at all.
